Welcome to Year 4
The Class Teacher, Mrs Taylor, and class Teaching Assistant, Mrs Allen, warmly welcome you to an amazing year of learning. We also have some special 1:1 Teaching Assistants who are Miss Brearley and Ms Henson,
I am so excited to have you all back at school for a new year! I know you are going to make an amazing Year 4 class. I am looking forward to seeing you grow and develop this year.
As part of our Catholic ethos, Jesus Christ remains central to every aspect of school life. We aim for the children to live, love and learn in the Light of Christ by following the Christian values. This creates a nurturing school environment where children can thrive in their learning. We hope that from the minute you enter our school you clearly see and feel that we are a Catholic community.
In Maths we follow the White Rose Maths Scheme and the children learn through investigations and exploration activities to develop their maths fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills.
In English, children continue to develop their sentence structure and broaden their punctuation skills to enable them to write longer pieces of writing.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure you come in the correct PE kit on these days.
Currently we are working on ensuring that all the Year 3 & 4 Statutory Words are learnt. A copy of each week’s spellings will be given to children each Friday. Children will focus on a group of ten each week that they will practice in school and at home. They will be tested on a Friday.
By the beginning of Year 4, children should know all their timestables confidently. Please help your child to practise their times tables and corresponding divisions at home.
As always, if there are any issues or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support,
