Times Tables Rock Stars and Numbots
Your child will already be familiar with the use of Times Tables Rock Stars as this is an on-line learning resource we have been using in school (and at home) for the last year or so. TT Rock Stars helps the children to learn times tables and related division facts.
New, to support home learning, the children are now able to use their TT Rock Stars log-in to access Numbots. Numbots is an on-line Math platform for boosting addition and subtraction skills. Playing little and often will significantly improve your child’s recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts, which are critical foundations in maths.
Logging In
Your child has, and should know, their TT Rockstars username and password. These details should be used to log into TT Rockstars and Numbots. Your child might need some help navigating to the website and entering the details but once they’re in, they just need some quiet space to get on with the games for 5 minutes.
If your child has lost/cannot recall their log-in details, please contact Office.admin@our-lady.lincs.sch.uk and we will forward these details to you.
Important: When your child is using TT Rockstars & Numbots, please don’t allow siblings, friends or family to answer for them but do support your child if they’re stuck.
Little and often
In order to get the best out of TT Rockstars and NumBots children should regularly play for short bursts so we would ask, during this period of home education, that you encourage your child to use each website for 15minutes each day and that you give them 5 minutes on Saturdays and 5 minutes on Sundays too (or more!)
Game Types – Numbots
1. Story Mode – the emphasis is on learning the ideas and concepts behind addition and subtraction so it features more diagrams, shapes and question styles.
2. Challenge Mode – the emphasis is more on speed of recall of key facts, like number bonds to 10, doubling small numbers or adding & taking away in your head.
Teachers will be monitoring engagement and progress via the teacher access area for both sites. So they will be able to share in the children’s efforts and achievements. Your class teachers will be pleased to assist you with any questions you have to help with learning points that might arise. Please email school for help.
